Dissect: An Evaluation

For the evaluation at the end of this project we had to swap with a partner and have them analyse and critique what we had done. This is what Nat Jackson said about mine.

What is being communicated and how?
The letters are made up of thick lines, showing the word dissect. Type is italic and uses an existing letter face. By making the letters three dimensional this also shows/reinforces the dissection.

How well does this answer the brief?
I think this answers the brief really well, as it is very simple and so easy to see. Also, the use of colour works well - breaking up the lines more to convey space in between.

How well has the idea been visually explored?
The idea has been researched well. I think it would have been interesting to see 3D models - as some research into this has been touched (Channel 4) Ways of dissecting the letter has been looked at, and I think has been really useful in how the final pieces have turned out.

What are the strengths of the resolution?
The letters are still really clear and stand out, also show/communicate 'dissecting'. Research is also strong, alot has been looked into, from colour to how letters will be broken up, and briefly looking at materials.

How could it be improved?
More use of materials - paint, 3D, other types of paper etc... Perhaps looking at a font that is more challenging, just to research, see if anything inspires you.

General comments...
Really like the boldness and colour of the final piece, and think there are some really good ideas in experimentation. Really liked the sketchbook.
