What roles did you take in the group?
My main role within the group was to design a series of posters that would visually advertise the product we had created. However other minor roles included: discussing ideas when brainstorming and working collaboratively with each member of the group.
How well do you think you performed in the roles?
I was very pleased with my final poster design, after having such a short time to produce a suitable outcome, and therefore think I was successful in fulfilling my role. I came up with an initial design that I was particularly fond of but after discussing it with fellow group members, I took on board their ideas and incorporated them into the design to create a final outcome that pleased the whole group.
How well do you think you worked as a group?
I think the group worked incredibly well together with each personality complementing the others. There were no major disputes or problems and no one person became the dominant figure. Each person had their ideas discussed constructively with no harsh criticism or negative feedback.
What were the positives of working in a group?
Everyone had a different approach to the task in hand and ideas were rampant. When discussing the outcome we all agreed that we would not have been able to think of such a good idea individually at this point on the course. Also due to expansive brain power we were able to develop such a basic idea into one with much more detail and depth, thus improving our chances of success.
What were the negatives of working in a group?
I was initially hesitant about expressing my opinions within a group of people that I had no previous contact with, however once conversation began to flow I became less nervous and more open. Another negative was lack of communication, which led to a day in the middle of the week going to waste with no work produced.
What will you do differently next time?
I will get into the group spirit straight away, take on board each persons ideas and make the most of the short period of time we have.
Where could you have improved your resolution?
We could have spent more time collaboratively on the final presentation and spread responsibilities more evenly. We could have also run through the final presentation once to make sure there were no technical problems.
What are the strengths of your presentation?
I feel that our final product was such a strong idea that it wouldn't take much effort to explain it and communicate the simplicity of it. After discussing the presentation with a non member of our group it became evident that she believed we had actually organised a mixer event for each subject area. This was incredibly pleasing as it proved all our efforts to make the product as realistic as possible had paid off.
