Mighty Grand

I had to give this particular studio a post all to themselves considering the fact that I was instantly blown away by their minimal website, yet the work they create is incredibly intricate and complex. If I where looking for a studio that rivalled purely my own interests in the graphic design industry it would without a doubt be 'Might Grand'. A screen cap of the page you are greeted with can be found below.

Obviously I have to take into consideration the specialisms and interests of the other people within my studio and I'm not sure it would be to everyones taste. When looking at the website it quickly becomes clear that this isn't actually a collaborative studio, it is in fact just one man and his creative efforts. Well in my opinion this makes the work even more impressive. However I also have to take into consideration the fact that by limiting himself to a single person agency he is taking on all the responsibilities himself. That would be a particularly difficult task to undertake, I'm not sure I could do it.

Take from the website:
Mighty Grand is Nick Thompson, a freelance graphic designer and marketer based in Nottingham.

Nick has a BA (Hons) in Fine Art & Art History and MA in Arts Management from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge and an FdA (commendation) in Design from New College Nottingham.

Prior to working as a graphic designer, he worked for eight years as a marketing manager.

There are also a few testimonials on the page:
'Nick provided some great creative solutions for what could have been
a very dry piece of promotional
print. He's quick to respond to enquiries and amends too. We've worked with him twice now and looking forward to working with
him more in the future'
Sally Hodgson, Marketing Manager

'Thank you for your vision, patience and help, Nick!'

Stink LIke Sock

He seems to specialise in illustration, promotion and branding. If you where to throw packaging into the mix then I would consider Nick big competition to our studio.

Images of just a few examples of his impressive work can be seen below.

Nick seems to be making a name for himself. I know that if I where not setting up a collaborative studio, but instead an individual practice for myself and my work, then this is the guy who I would model my methods and approach on. He would be a pretty big inspiration for myself as a solo effort.
